MINUTES of November 7, 2006 Meeting
Meeting began at 6:28 P.M. Meeting started early due to large group at restaurant sharing meeting room.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS AND GUESTS: A welcome to Maggie Aldridge and Robert Johnstone as new members.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, seconded, approved and passed.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, seconded, approved and passed. Wayne reported the address of the U.S. Bank account has been changed to the new address. A motion was made to make an interest only payment to Lee for the property. Motion was seconded, approved and passed. Wayne will need the amount to pay Lee.
OFF BUDGET ITEMS NEEDING APPROVAL: A sprayer for oil, track bolts, and bolts and nails were purchased.
CORRESPONDENCE: Info from Wayne regarding address change. A letter of resignation was received from Denny Byrum concerning his Vice President and other duties. He stated his reason for departure was due to health reasons. We all hope he recovers soon.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: We need to nominate committee members for the 2007 season. It was decided to nominate and vote on the new members at the next meeting.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: 1949 GMC. The truck is at the fair grounds resting. 1981 GMC. The oil has been changed, the new door has been installed and it is waiting for a tune up.
STATUS OF 286 K. FLAT CARS IN PASCO: The numbers of the cars are now 38097 and 38024. The Reardan Grain Growers is using their siding at this time. We may need to rent or lease a siding for a short time until we get the switch installed off the WATCO main line at the Reardan site.
STATUS OF BOISE CASCADE ENGINE @ LAMPSON YARD: Bill has not convinced them to give it to us as of yet.
TRAIN SWAP REPORT REVENUE: Wayne will have a report for us at the next meeting.
FAIRBOARD STATUS: Nothing new until we get a new fair board manager next January.
REARDAN REPORTS: We are expecting assistance from the Reardan High School kids again. Bills for membership will be sent out in 2 weeks with the Sidetrack. December 15 is the next date for the Sidetrack to go out.
SIDING AT PR&CC: Only a couple of days of work left to get the siding ready to install. We need assistance and we need people that can help on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
HISTORIAN REPORT: Gene bought 3 photos, one is a the 3206 at High Bridge Park, and other are various locations around the NW
ANNUAL MEETING: Mr. Christenson has been chosen to be the banquet speaker. It was decided to purchase his fuel or mileage expenses. There was a motion to make the annual meeting January 8, 2007 at Granny's Old Country Buffet, 9606 North Newport Highway in Spokane. The motion was approved, seconded and passed. The dinner will start at 6 P.M. and the meeting will start at 7 P.M.
SWAP MEETS: The annual toy show at the Reardan Community hall is Dec. 10. There is a limit of 2 tables. The cost is $20 for one table. It was decided to rent one table. We need to attend small community functions to make our presence known. There will also be a SP&S swap meet in Portland on Jan 20, 2007.
NEW BUSINESS: It was suggested that maybe we could operate the 2 foot train more often for special events such as a Christmas train. Mike will check with the fairgrounds to see if there are any special processes we must follow. We need a new meeting place where we are not in competition for the meeting room. The group is open for suggestions as to a place were we could have a room all to ourselves. Please check and advise the group if you find a place. The Longhorn will only give us a private meeting room for a cost of $75.
