Minutes of July 5, 2005 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:15 p.m.

INTRODUCTION OF MEMBERS AND GUESTS: New members and guests included Russ and Marcus Dingman from Coulee City.

SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, approved, seconded and passed with no corrections.

TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, approved, seconded and passed. It was stated that we need to find some grant money. Bill needs authorization to sign the Edwall Chemical account. There was a motion to allow Bill the proper authorization to sign the Edwall Chemical account. The motion was approved, seconded and passed. Bill listed the expenses of $16,700+ so far for moving to Reardan. It is estimated we will need $10,000 more in funds to complete the move.

CORRESPONDENCE: There was a letter from Pend Oreille Valley with a check for $1,000. Bill stated the letter was confusing to understand but we were happy to receive the check. A thank you letter was sent to Eric Nichols, Reardan coach for the use of the kids as a work party at the Reardan site. A letter from Tim Jackson requests a $1,000 tax write off for transporting the trucks to Reardan. It was suggested to pay Copenhaver Construction if he will not accept a 501C3 write off. Bill recommended a gold, silver or bronze system for recognition of dollar amounts that are donated to the IERHS. There was correspondence from the Reardan Chamber of Commerce, Dale Swant, and the Big Bend Economic Development Council, Clay Soliday, and Pam Kelly.

EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY STATUS: It was suggested to run an ad in the Spokesman Review to sell the old backhoe for parts starting at $2,500. A motion was made to sell the old case backhoe for a no less than $2,000. The motion was approved, seconded and passed. The new backhoe is a model 210 B. The cylinders on the bucket were exchanged from the old backhoe.

EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: MUSEUM ROLLING STOCK: There is a U.P. snowplow that is available for scrap or donation. The executive committee decided to let it go for scrap. Reasons stated were that it was very heavy, needed much work and we didn't have a place to store it. Gene reported he has 3 more days of work to get the 2 express boxcars ready to move. They will need to be trucked to Reardan.

ACTIVITY REPORTS: TRAIN SWAP MEETS: Mike has information on the August 5 model train swap meet at the fairgrounds. At the next meeting we will discuss setting up a table at the Lincoln County Fair. We will need people to run the table.

ACTIVITY REPORTS FAIRGROUNDS: We need to start cleaning for the fair.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: REARDAN REPORTS: Warren has basic building layout done and the track bed is leveled. More track has been laid and supplies have been moved. We need to remove our items from Piper’s extra storefront; however, there is no place at this time to move them to. We need to get the rail moved from Spokane before we can start laying the switch for the PR&CC railroad.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: HISTORIAN REPORT: We finally have possession of the safe from Dishman Depot. It was donated by the King family.

STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: TRIBES: Northern Quest’s casino brings in $500,000 each day. It is hopeful they will donate to us.

STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: BANKS: There will not be an answer from U.S. Bank until this fall.

OTHER OLD BUSINESS: There was no new information at this time.

NEW BUSINESS: STATE OF WASHINGTON: Bill will try to make contact with Jerry Lindsey.

BY-LAW UPDATE: Denny needs a copy of the old by-laws before he can update any further.
