IERHS Meeting Minutes, August 2, 2005
12 members present. Meeting called to order 1909 hrs.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, approved, seconded and passed with no corrections.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, approved, seconded and passed. It was noted we are at the break even point with all the items that we purchased from Montana Daylight Rockies. Everything we sell now will be profit. It was noted we are getting very low on cash and need funds.
CORRESPONDENCE: Letter of thanks to Mike Blimka for purchasing the case tractor, a letter from the Big Bend Community Council on the tour train, as well as correspondence with the Davenport Times, Jim Larson, Union Pacific regarding rail in the Union Pacific yard, and Wayne Shaw on minimum requirements to rent a truck mounted crane.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT: The roller needs to be picked up for the dozer at The Track Man.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: MUSEUM ROLLING STOCK: It was reported that Art has been cleaning the fairgrounds equipment washing windows and dusting. Mostly sweeping is left to be done.
ACTIVITY REPORTS: TRAIN SWAP: Swap meet and tour in the valley will be August 5-7. We will have 2 tables set up on Sunday.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: FAIR BOARD STATUS: The rent is paid. We need a fair package.
REARDAN REPORT: SIDING AT PR&CC: The siding is ready to go. Bill has talked to the dispatcher.
HISTORIAN REPORT: No new info. at this time. Gene demonstrated several clothing items for sale. There are T-shirts, sweat shirts, and other items. There are about 3 pickup loads of items for sale.
STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: TRIBES: Bill has asked the Spokane Indians for assistance, and they claim that 2 Rivers has had a poor year.
STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: BANKS: Wheatland Bank sounds interested. Bill will write a letter requesting $5,000. He is still working on Bank of America and Wal-Mart.
OLD BUSINESS TURNTABLE STATUS: Union Pacific wants to know if we still want the turntable. Lee will see if Hite crane will move it for us and how much it could cost. Gene stated we don't have funds or man power at this time to deal with it. Bill will take a look at it. Some parts of it will have to be cut loose before it can be transported. Bill will ask U.P. if they will move it for us just to get rid of it and move it off their property. It was decided that we want the track from U. P. as soon as possible.
NEW BUSINESS: STATE OF WASH DOT OWNERSHIP: Bill talked to Jerry Lindsey and Jerry stated the railroad is being operated out of Olympia at this time.
NEW BUSINESS: ANNUAL MEETING: Dick Green will talk for 30 minutes. Dale has a singer in mind. Bill will ask some government dignitaries if they might come to speak.
NEW BUSINESS: BY LAWS: By-laws are being key boarded onto a disc. It will be easier to distribute and edit them.
DAVENPORT FAIR: Dale is the leader of the committee. Please contact Dale for information and to sign up to work the fair.
SEPTEMBER MEETING LOCATION NOTICE: THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE AT THE FAIRGROUNDS FOR A WORK NIGHT.
