Minutes of IERHS meeting of November 1, 2005

Meeting called to order at 7:04 pm.

INTRODUCTIONS OF MEMBERS AND GUESTS: No guests present.

SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, corrections were made, approved as corrected, seconded and passed.

TREASURER'S REPORT: Read, seconded and passed. Art noted that money has been paid back to Depot account. A motion was made to pay Lee Tillotson an interest only payment of $800 and no principle at this time. Motion was seconded, approved and passed.

CORRESPONDENCE: Bill wrote a letter regarding the caboose and flatcars in Pasco. We need the caboose number. Gene will get the number.

EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: SPEEDER CARS: There are 40 speeders available. We would like to keep 3 of them. There is also a 9U D-6 hydraulic dozer that may be available too. There may be a possibility of receiving this dozer as a donation. He also has a motor grader and some dump trucks.

EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY STATUS: Warren wants to take his D-8 home for the winter for repairs. The roller has been bought for our dozer. It needs to be installed before winter. It has been too dusty to do finish work. The backhoe alternator is not charging and needs to be replaced. Gene wants to trade baggage car 319 for U.P. 5651 baggage car. The trade will be with the model railroad club. A motion was made for the trade, seconded, approved and passed. We have been offered 4 air jacks in trade for a M-14 motor car/speeder. There was a motion for the trade. The motion was seconded, approved and passed. It was noted that the price of a motorcar at the silent auction was lowered after the sales price had been agreed on in meetings. A motion was made to make a policy that states when a price is agreed on in the meetings, if a lower price is accepted, then the seller must pay the difference. The motion was seconded, approved and passed.

TURNTABLE AND TRACK: The Union Pacific turntable is ours.

TRADE CABOOSE FOR 268 K TON FLAT CARS: This deal is in progress. Bill will write a bill of sale for the cars.

BOISE CASCADE @ LAMPSON CRANE: Boise Cascade wants $2500 for the locomotive. Bill will ask for a possible donation.

ACTIVITY REPORTS: TRAIN SWAPS: We made $400 from the Missoula show, $700 from the Spokane show, $200 from the Ritzville show and $20 from a donation. We also sold Montana Daylight passenger cars. We are out of cookbooks and big whistles.

ACTIVITY REPORTS: FAIRGROUND: Stan is rebuilding the seats on the motorcars. Gene is working on the baggage car. The stainless steel doors need work. They will look nice when the paint is stripped off. We need bolts on the doors. We need to move the track from Dollar Road.

They are only open on weekdays. We need the tractor, but it is busy unloading motor cars. There are 21 tons of track and parts.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: FAIRBOARD STATUS: Dolly still works there.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: REARDAN REPORTS - TRACK DRAWINGS: Bill displayed the new track drawings.

HISTORIAN REPORT: No new information.

STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: TRIBES AND BANKS: Spokane tribe and Wheatland Bank will discuss donations about us at their next board meetings. Bank of America doesn't donate to organizations such as us.

OLD BUSINESS: WATCO: We received a letter stating they are considering abandoning our line.

NEW BUSINESS: ANNUAL MEETING: Dick Green will be the guest speaker on the Northern Pacific Railroad. He has written books.

BY LAWS UPDATE: The bylaws will not be ready by the annual meeting.

INDIVIDUAL IDEAS: Open the depot a couple of Saturdays to sell memorabilia before the holidays. May also rent kiosks at the malls. It would help to show ourselves and possibly sell material that will become dated. Fairgrounds will want a cut.
