IERHS Meeting Minutes – Dec 6, 2005
Open Meeting:
The meeting started at 7:10 pm. Eighteen persons were present.
Secretary’s Report: Jerry Fey read the secretary’s report. It was approved with three changes. Under Equipment Status Report / Speeder Cars: the first sentence "We have been able to sell them for $1600 each" was deleted. Under Equipment Status Report / Construction Machinery Status, the "M-19 motor car/speeder" was changed to "M-14 motor car/speeder". Under Committee Reports / Fairboard Status, "words" was changed to "works".
Treasurer’s Report: Art Cowen read the treasurer’s report and it was approved as read. Cal Graedel reminded everyone to turn in the number of hours worked with the IERHS. Forty hours credit means you don’t have to pay local dues. The information is also used when applying for grants.
Correspondence: A stack of correspondence received by President Bill Graedel was passed around.
Annual Plan: Bill stated it would be sent to the County Commissioners.
Equipment Status: Machinery: The tractor still has an alternator problem.
Museum Rolling Stock Status: Trade of cars between IERHS and the Spokane Model Railroaders is complete.
Turntable: Nothing to report.
Trade caboose for 2 flat cars: Nothing is moving yet. We still have some work to do on the flat cars. The trade for the caboose is done; we are waiting for the city of Pasco to do the paperwork.
Boise Cascade at Lampson Crane Yard: They want $2500 cash for the 20 ton industrial loco, Bill Graedel is still negotiating, hoping they will do a donation.
Activity:
Train Swap: Mike reported we are going to do a Flea Market Collectable Show at the Fairgrounds this coming weekend, Dec 10 & 11. Setup is on Friday at 2:30 pm. We have rented a 10 by 10-foot area for the two days. He needs volunteers to run the booth from 9 to 6 on Saturday and Sunday. A motion was passed to allow Mike McMackin to lower "Montana Rockies" item prices.
Fair Grounds: No report.
Committees:
Fair Board Status: No report.
Reardan: Lee gave a lengthy report on the month’s activities at Reardan.
Track Drawings: The new drawings circulated during the meeting. Lee said we have decided to use our bulldozer if more grading needs to be done. Lee also reported that someone stole 70 gallons of diesel fuel and a fuel screen from Warren’s bulldozer while it was parked at Reardan.
Moving rail: A planned move was canceled because of weather.
Historian: Two and a half boxes of old maps and plans from an undisclosed source where delivered to the library.
Money raising: Nothing new to report.
Old Business:
WATCO: Bill Graedel wrote a letter to WATCO asking them to donate the railroad to us for a large donation credit write-off. Nothing official yet on the PR&CC / WA state sale.
Elections: Denny Byram was elected as Vice President. In all other offices, the out-going officers were unanimously re-elected.
By-Law Committee: Denny Byram made contact with National and may decide to use their format that would mean starting from scratch. It will not be ready for the Jan 2006 meeting.
Ione/Metaline Falls train: We have received no money yet.
New Business:
Mike has a request for a picture of the streetcar.
Jerry reported the Northtown Mall kiddie train is for sale.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Fey
Temporary secretary in Wayne Shaw’s absence.
