IERHS Meeting Minutes for April 4, 2006.
16 members present.
Meeting called to order 7:09 P.M.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, approved, seconded and passed with no corrections.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Jerry was not present, so there was no report. Wayne Shaw was voted as the new secretary/treasurer combined. It was reported that his pay would be doubled from $0 to $00.
CORRESPONDENCE: Dale Swant will represent us on the hotel/motel committee.
CORRESPONDENCE: There was a donation receipt from B-line for the trailer, and Pacific Metals.
CORRESPONDENCE: We received a letter from Clive Carter requesting permission to publish information from two IERHS publications into his book. There was a motion to allow the information to be entered into the book. We will request a copy of the book for our library. The motion was approved, seconded and passed. Wayne will respond.
MEETING ROOM REQUIREMENTS: A new meeting place was discussed. The owners complained there were not enough people ordering meals to keep the meeting room. It was suggested that everyone come with a hungry appetite to the meetings. Dale Swant will look at the Longhorn as they have a new banquet room.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT - There is no new information on the D-8.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT -The GMC fuel tank has been repaired after someone damaged the tank stealing fuel. It needs a new license.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT -The Case backhoe is still not running. The flatbed trailer needs work. Lee is working on a deal for some better tires.
EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: MUSEUM ROLLING STOCK - About 3/4 of the carpet has been laid and more seats are ready.
U.P. TURNTABLE: Nothing new at this time.
STATUS OF TWO 286K FLATCARS IN PASCO: We are waiting for the tracks to be cleared so they can be shipped to us.
BOISE CASCADE ENGINE AT LAMPSON CRANE YARD: We will ask for a possible donation of the locomotive. It may be possible to load it on one of the flat cars.
ACTIVITY REPORTS: TRAIN SWAPS - We made $285 in Pullman. There have only been 3 tables sold at Livingston and the meet may be canceled. The meet at Helena is the 30th and we have one table confirmed and possibly a second one. We won't take the shirts if there is only one table as there won't be enough room. The question was asked if we want to go to Bozeman for the N.P. convention?
ACTIVITY REPORTS: FAIRGROUNDS - Wayne will get the weeds sprayed again this year. Wilbur Ellis is happy to use the fairgrounds area as a test plot again and will provide us with the free herbicide.
FAIRGROUNDS DISCUSSION WITH DOLLY HUGHS: Bill will set up a meeting with the commissioners.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: REARDAN REPORT - The ground is wet and it is a good time to spread grass seed in the bare ground areas.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: SIDING AT PR&CC - The ground is too wet at this time for siding work.
HISTORIAN REPORT: Nothing new at this time.
STATUS OF RAISING MONEY: We are still begging. The American Chopper motorcycle group may want to rent the 2-ft. gauge. It was suggested that possibly $350 for 6 hours as an amount to charge.
NEW BUSINESS: We need spike pullers at Mutual Materials.
NEW BUSINESS: We lost our old building at Mule Days. There is a possibility of using the fire hall, but there could be a $75 charge for that building. Mule Days is June 3.
