Minutes of IERHS meeting on May 2, 2006
14 members present.
Meeting called to order 7:08 P.M.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, corrected, approved, seconded and passed as corrected.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, approved, seconded and passed. Jerry has Wayne all set up on the computer for the account. They are working on adding Wayne to the account and removing Art's name.
OFF BUDGET ITEMS TO PURCHASE: We have a chance to purchase some refrigerator car bodies for $1000 each, delivered. U.P. wants to know if we are going to move our 2 U.P. cars. The cost for moving the U.P. Cars is about $1,000 each. We need to move them next month or tell them to send them to scrap. Motion to spend $2,000 to have the U.P. cars was approved,
seconded and passed.
CORRESPONDENCE: Standard Drug is closing and the mailbox contract is being dropped. We will have to choose a new PO Box number and a new location to receive our mail. Gene suggested the Sprague and Helena post office. The rent will be transferred.
CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY STATUS: Working is progressing on the flat bed trailer at this time. The landing gear is on, the lights are being worked on, but a landing gear handle has to be made. A motion was made for $200.00 for mounting and balancing the tires for the trailer.
Motion seconded, approved and passed.
GMC TRUCK: The insurance is due this month.
CASE BACKHOE: Lee and Bill will work on the backhoe next week. We have an offer of a 5-ton forklift for sale for $500.00. There was a motion to purchase the forklift not exceeding $500.00 and subject to inspection. Motion was seconded, approved and passed.
BOISE CASCADE LOCOMOTIVE @ LAMPSON YARD: We may be able to get it as a
donation.
ACTIVITY REPORTS: TRAIN SWAP MEETS - Mike sold $788 in Helena, he took $60 for expenses and flyers. The balance to the group was $728. We are getting out of many items to sell. Mike noted we are getting low and need to re-supply missing railroad cups. A motion was made to allow Mike to fill in the inventory of missing cups and add to the inventory as
needed. The motion was approved, seconded and passed. The next location for a chance to sell items will be at the Reardan Mule Days. The question was asked if we want to go to Bozeman. We will need a member there.
ACTIVITY REPORTS: FAIRGROUNDS. We have a new lease on the fairgrounds as 1 May, 2006. The weeds have been sprayed at the fairgrounds.
REARDAN REPORT: Dale Swant will have High School kids available for spike driving at the end of the month. We need to move 2 display cases from the building in Reardan as the building has been sold. We can use the firehouse for Mule Days for $75.00 on June 3. Lee may have a lead on some boiler tubes that we can use for fence posts at the Reardan site.
STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: A letter has been send to the CEO of the Wheatland Bank. We may get $10,000 from them. American Chopper motorcycle group wants to rent the 2-foot gauge July 28-30.
NEW BUSINESS: The June meeting place will be the Longhorn B.B.Q. at Highway 2 and Spotted Rd. There was a motion to make the "Ride the Rails to Reardan" T-shirt our encouraged official dress code when we are out in public and working at functions. The motion was tabled until the next meeting and the inventory can be tallied up.
