Minutes of IERHS meeting on 6 June, 2006.
Meeting called to order 7:05 P.M.
13 members present. President Bill Graedel was absent; Mike McMackin presided over the meeting.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, fork lift size was corrected to state 11 tons, approved, seconded and passed as corrected.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, approved, seconded and passed. Insurance has been paid.
FAIRGROUNDS: Word on passenger car number 985 work is progressing. Work is also being done on motor cars. Lee and Gene have been gathering ties from BNSF off the old bridge by Avista. There is a new lease in our hands. There seems to be a change of attitude at the fairgrounds. Jerry Quinn wants us to stay there.
EQUIPMENT: The GMC truck is almost back together now. Not much progress on trailer. The pup trailer air lines are now blocked off.
LIBRARY: Three hundred books are now in the database. Over 200 man-hours have been donated by Bruce and Jerry.
REARDAN REPORT: Rail is stacked, ties are stacked up and ready. Some ties have been stolen. Bill wants to put an ad in the paper for $500 reward for return of stolen property. The sheriff has been contacted to keep an eye on the place and a report has been filed. A motion was made to put an ad in the Lincoln Advertiser for a $500 reward. The ad will cost $10. The motion was seconded, approved and passed. It was suggested that we contact Avista for a security light or motion detector light. We spent $75 at Reardan Mule Days, but only took in $55.02. Larry and John provided a great effort to Mule Days.
OLD BUSINESS: The state and WATCO may be headed for arbitration. The U.P. cars are not ready to move. U.P. has not emptied the cars yet and the scrappers are out of town. No new information on the Orange County Choppers.
STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: No word from Avista or Wheatland bank. Two to 4 more motor cars may already be sold. Mike bought 2 dozen cups to sell at swap meets. The cookbooks and tote bags are all gone. Shirts are getting down to limited sizes and we may have to discount them due to lack of sizes. There is a possibility of getting some federal grant money.
NEW BUSINESS: Wayne has Cottonwood trees that he will donate to be used for planks if we can find someone that has a portable sawmill. The new tourist train guide is out and there is a new book on BNSF at the downtown library. We need to decide if we are going to be represented at the Lincoln County fair. The cost is $100. There is a new Lincoln County
Economic Development council. The question was asked if we want a presence in Wilbur, Coulee City and Odessa community days?
IMPORTANT MEETING CHANGE NOTICE: The next scheduled meeting was on the 4th of July. The meeting has been changed to Tuesday 11th of July at the Longhorn B.B.Q. at Spotted road and Highway 2.
Motion to adjourn 8:14 P.M.
