Minutes of the July 11, 2006 IERHS meeting

Meeting called to order 7:00 P.M. 13 members present.

SECRETARY'S REPORT: Secretary's report was read, corrected from 985 car to 974 car. Approved as corrected, seconded and passed.

TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer's report was read, approved, seconded and passed. Bill wants to meet with Jerry and Wayne to create a spread sheet to make a budget plan and wish list. We need to have a better financial agenda and plan.

CORRESPONDENCE: There are complaints coming in that members are not getting credit and recognition for memberships and donations. It appears there are membership applications that have been lost. Installing the new treasurer has not helped matters.

EQUIPMENT STATUS REPORT: The old GMC is running, barely. There is a 1981 GMC truck at Reardan Grain Growers that is up for a bid. It needs a seat, the left door is damaged, and the hoist pump is missing. We will see if they will donate the truck. We will have to meet with the R.G.G. board to see if that is possible. There was a motion to bid $595 on the 1981 GMC truck if we can not get it donated. Motion was approved, seconded and passed. There is the possibility of a truck from an Odessa estate. It may also be a donation. The Case backhoe is running well. There has been no work done to the D-8.

MUSEUM ROLLING STOCK: The cabooses are receiving paint and they are looking great. We are hoping to get some batteries donated to use in the F-9.

TURNTABLE @ U.P. YARD: We are waiting for the cars to move it to arrive from Pasco. We need to get the U.P. refrigerator cars out of the U.P. yard. The mover is concerned about the weight of the cars and is worried about his equipment being damaged.

WATCO: The state wants W.S.U. to study track and rail on the line.

BOISE CASCADE LOCOMOTIVE: Lampson wants $2500 for a small ex-Boise Cascade locomotive. The locomotive has been used for parts and is not is good shape at all. We will only accept it as a donation.

SWAP MEETS: There is a swap meet in Missoula in September.

FAIRGROUNDS REPORT: Dolly is concerned that U.P. will remove the tracks to our collection and leave us stranded at the fairgrounds.

REARDAN REPORT: There is a concern about fire at the Reardan site with the dry weather and all of the tall grasses. Gene has some metal posts from Sharpline that will work for fencing around the Reardan site.

FREEBIE! Bill will mail a thank you letter to Sharpline. Bill will check on an ad in the Lincoln Advertiser listing 800 feet of 8' tall chain link fence for sale. There has been more grass seeded and there is a need for more ties. We are hoping to put rail on the top of the ties to make them less susceptible to theft. The Lincoln County Economic Development council has not been assisting us as they promised. It was decided not to put an ad in the Lincoln Advertiser regarding the theft of the ties. Avista has not replied to our request for power. We may have to pay for the line extension and make monthly payments for that extension.

HISTORIAN REPORT: Gene has a couple of new photos to add to the collection. One is a wreck on a bridge, and the other is on the N.P. at 2nd AVE . Both photos will be in next year's IERHS calender.

STATUS OF MONEY RAISING: We hope to receive a grant from Avista and Wheatland Bank for $10,000 each. We are running low on motor cars to sell.

OLD BUSINESS: There has been no further contact from Orange County Choppers. It has been requested that no members be in the fairgrounds during the weekend O.C.C. is there. Larry Parker has located a saw mill that will possibly make the Cottonwood trees donated by Wayne Shaw into planks for our buildings. The cost is $100.00 per 1,000 board feet. The mill owner wants to view the trees first before committing. He will not be ready to process them until this fall. Larry and Wayne will work on this project.

NEW BUSINESS: There is a different forklift that is for sale and it is better than the one we looked at before. The cost is $1,000 and it is in far better condition than the $500 forklift. It has a 22,000 lb lifting capacity. There was motion to approve the additional $500 in addition to the $500 already approved to purchase the larger fork lift. The motion was approved, seconded and passed.

MOTION TO ADJOURN AT 8:22 P.M.

Wayne Shaw

Secretary
